Burbage Police Weekly Update. Jewellery Thefts, Emma Shaw Foundation Christmas Market This Sunday And Overnight Patrols. |

|
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage over the last few days. Attached is the “No thanks” Halloween Poster as well as our crime prevention catalogue.
Reported Crime and Appeals
It has been a busy few days in Burbage for calls to Police. Since our last update, there have been 30 calls to Police in Burbage. 9 of these were emergency and 7 were priority calls. Calls include intruder alarms, violence and domestic related incidents.
In addition to our last report regarding a residential burglary on Herald Way, a further report has come in which appears to be from the same time. Whilst we have completed work in the area, if you live around Herald Way, Pennant Road, Broadsword Way or Armour Close, please check your CCTV for any suspicious activity on Thursday 23rd October between 16:30 – 23:30. Suspects are entering unoccupied properties and targeting jewellery, Smashing either patio doors or side doors. Please consider popping along to one of our events for support with items such as window alarms, fence cactus spikes, light timers or PIR alarms. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We have been working with local shops in relation to recent shoplifting reports, where certain stores are being continually targeted. We have also been completing work regarding reports of anti-social behaviour, youth related. Youths identified and visits to home addresses and conversations with children/parents completed.
Pc Davidson has been on a few night shifts over the weekend and has spent a lot of time patrolling around Burbage. Stop checks/searches completed.
We have also been visiting local shops, with posters to try and prevent the sale of eggs and flour to groups of youths over the Halloween and bonfire night period. Whilst last year went well overall, these items can cause a lot of issues if used to cause problems for residents (being thrown at vehicles and properties). Issues from previous years end up resulting from “youth related house parties”. If your child is attending a house party, please ensure there are responsible adults present and children are either being picked up or going straight home, as this is when criminal damage and general bad behaviour can occur.
Visit completed to Burbage Infants as requested to discuss road safety during the darker nights, Halloween and bonfire safety. We spoke about the “No Thanks” Halloween poster, being polite and respectful, staying by adults and taking care around fireworks/bonfires. As always, it’s a pleasure to visit and we hope they all stay safe during an exciting few months.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Please be really vigilant at the moment around vehicle crime and residential burglary. Due to recent reported crime, we cannot state enough how important it is to review home security and do anything you can to reduce opportunities for criminals, and to minimise any reward these criminals will get from engaging in this type of activity.
Just a reminder for Sunday 2nd of November, we will be at the Millennium Hall with our crime prevention items at the Emma Shaw foundation charity indoor Christmas market from 12:00-16:00. Please pop in and take a look, last year was a really good event, lots of stalls. Crime prevention items stall, sold at cost, cash only.
Our Confidence survey is open until the end of the month (couple of more days), so if you haven’t already, it would be appreciated if you can take a few moments. The feedback is read and your points taken on board so why not have your say. Thank you very much to those who have already filled it in. https://survey.neighbourhoodlink.co.uk/Survey/GUID/e4207acb-bd0b-4000-b735-d4ae32bcffd6
Thank you and take care.
